This audio work is an offering to Saturn, Cronos, the Lord of Time, and chaos, a god of generation, dissolution, plenty, wealth, agriculture, periodic renewal, and liberation.
The Saturnine Deity Rules With Chaos From the Chthonic Realms is not in any way a traditional seasonal tune with jingled bells and distant sounds of guttural laughter and a choir of children singing in falsetto. This sound work looks further beyond into the deep dark past, going beyond the wafer-thin post card values of today.
Saturnalia was a Roman festival honouring the god Saturn which was held on the 17 of December in the Julian calendar and then expanded with festivities through to the 23rd of December. The holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn.
