A good ritual can change your luck. A great ritual can alter the course of your life. The Lunar Eclipse Full Moon Serm Duang ritual executed by Ajarn Perm Rung at his shrine in Thailand on the 7th of September 2025 can be safely be defined as a great ritual. The Serm Duang ritual is a spiritual practice focused solely on enhancing one’s luck, destiny, and overall well-being by enhancing a person’s luck. “Serm” means to enhance, increase, or improve and “Duang” means one’s luck, fate, or destiny or the astrological chart itself. This hybrid Thai Buddhist and ancient Vedic practice ritual focuses on one’s nine personal planets and has powerful aspects which can bring numerous benefits; it can eliminate bad luck and misfortune, improve career, finance, and business success. It can restore and strengthen relationships. Other aspects also include the enhancement of overall health and well-being. It can bringing fame and charm and importantly it can align the devotee with the positive pathways relating to good karma. The ritual can involve various ceremonies, often including the use of candles, or other sacred items to bring more favourable circumstances.
It is a way for people to overcome bad luck, align with positive karma, and gain a greater sense of control over their life path, particularly for those with unfavourable horoscopes or a history of misfortune. Ajarn Perm Rung spared nothing in the creation and execution of this sublime ritual. At his shrine several specialist magickal candles were encrypted with the devotees personal details. Each one was prepared and then lit. Ajarn Perm Rung then, at a very specific astrologically auspicious place and time, began the ritual. The ritual lasted for over and hour. The candles were then left at the shrine to burn down completely.
This profound ritual has a very serious power to it. The symbolic power of these specialist magickal candles, often covered in yantras and magickal imagery, sometimes incorporating old Khmer or Northern Thai magic to attract positive energies, are extremely potent. The Serm Duang ritual strengthens the devotee’s line of fate and is deeply intertwined with the belief in destiny and the potential for personal magickal transformation.
